FAQ - Frequently asked question
What is Pixlr?
Pixlr is a online image editor, that means that you can upload your images and edit them in your browser. It is built in Flash and you need to have a Flash plug in (get flash) to get it to work.
Who needs Pixlr?
Pixlr is built for non-professionals, the users that have basic editing needs. It's not for large RAW images or for printing. It is merely a tool for editing web images to be posted on blogs, news-sites, social networks like Facebook, Bebo, image sites like Flikr, Photobucket etc.
Who built it?
The application is developed by a Swedish team. The most part is by a developer named Ola Sevandersson
Performance?
Since it is Flash based the question about how it runs is up to what kind of computer you have. If it is lagging you can try to shut down other web pages that might be running flash ads or close other software on your computer that is taking a lot of CPU.
It lacks features that i need?
We are constantly developing the application to be more than it is right now. We will release updates as soon as they are ready, so if it doesn't has a feature right now it will probably be here soon. If you have any feature request please send them to
How about privacy?
To get the image into the application the file must first be uploaded to our server and then downloaded into the application. The file that was uploaded is automatically deleted from our servers after 5 minutes. The changes that you do to the image in the application never leaves your screen.
What is the developers main focus?
Compare Pixlr to any other flash based image editor and you will notice that it starts up in less than 2 seconds. That is our priority! No waiting just a great tool.
API
We know that a lot of people love our software and want to use it on their own sites. Just go to the API page and go for it!
